Privacy Policy

English Habibi · Last updated 6 October 2026

This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the English Habibi app and website ("English Habibi", "we", "us"). The short version: we do not collect your personal information. The app has no accounts, no servers of its own, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.

1. Who we are

English Habibi is made by Parshak Dahal, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. You can contact us at [email protected].

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). We have also written this policy to meet the standards of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation and similar laws in other countries.

2. What we collect

Nothing is sent to us. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts or any other personal information, and we have no way to see how you use the app.

3. What stays on your device

To work, the app saves the following only on your own device, in the app's private storage:

  • your lesson progress, stars, quiz results and streak
  • your English University grades, coins and word cards
  • the name you type for a graduation certificate (optional)
  • your settings, daily goal, optional test date and reminder time
  • your writing drafts and any words you save with the word scanner

Your device may include this in its own backup (for example iCloud Backup) if you have turned that on, under Apple's privacy terms. It is deleted when you delete the app, and you can delete it at any time in Settings › Reset all progress.

4. Microphone and speech recognition

Some speaking practice asks to use your microphone. If you allow it:

  • your voice is processed while the exercise is running and is not saved to a file, uploaded or shared by us;
  • the words you say are turned into text by Apple's speech recognition. The app asks for this to happen on your device wherever your device supports it. On devices that cannot do this, iOS may send the audio to Apple to be transcribed, under Apple's Privacy Policy.

Microphone and speech access are optional. You can refuse or turn them off at any time in your device Settings, and the rest of the app keeps working.

5. Camera and photos

The word scanner can read printed text through your camera, or from a photo you choose. Text recognition happens on your device. No image is saved by the app, uploaded or shared. Camera access is optional.

6. Writing feedback

On devices with Apple Intelligence, feedback on your writing is produced by Apple's on-device language model. Your writing is not sent to us or to anyone else. On other devices this feature is not available.

7. Notifications

If you turn on a daily reminder, it is scheduled on your device. We do not use push-notification servers and cannot send you messages.

8. Widgets

Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show a word of the day and a small summary of your progress. This information is shared only between the app and its widgets, on your device.

9. Purchases

If the app offers purchases, they are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, Apple Account, card or payment details. Apple tells the app only whether a purchase is active so the right content can be unlocked. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

10. Backups you export

If you export a backup file, it is created on your device and goes only where you choose to send it. We never receive it.

11. Children

English Habibi is designed to be suitable for learners of all ages. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents and guardians can see and delete everything the app stores by using Reset all progress in Settings or deleting the app.

12. Our website

Our website offers lessons and word games from the app, describes the app, and publishes this policy and our Terms of Use. If you use the lessons or games on the website, your progress is saved in your own browser's storage on your device. It is not sent to us, and you can delete it with Reset progress on the Learn page or by clearing your browser's site data. If you choose Day sky or Night sky, or type a name for a graduation certificate, that is saved in the same way. The website uses no cookies, no analytics and no contact forms. Like any website, the company that hosts it processes basic technical data, such as your IP address, in order to deliver the pages. If the website ever starts using cookies, analytics or a contact form, we will say so on the website and update this policy before that starts.

13. Your rights

Because we hold no personal information about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on our side; everything is on your device and under your control. If you have a question or a privacy complaint, email [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or the data protection authority where you live.

14. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles information, we will update this policy and the date at the top, and tell you inside the app before any significant change takes effect.
